There are few artists that break barriers in songwriting and in its craft and are as universally acclaimed and successful as Canada’s Gordon Lightfoot. Worldwide, songs like “Sundown”, “Carefree Highway” “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” and “Early Morning Rain” are instantly recognized by young and old alike and classic love songs such as “Song For a Winter’s Night” “Beautiful” “Softly” and “If You Could Read My Mind” are some of the most revered ballads of our time. In a late 1960’s fashion we will introduce you to a young Albertan songwriter and performer by the name of Benjamin Williams. A talent few can hold a candle to. Benjamin lives and breathes the works of Gordon Lightfoot, you hear it in his style, his voice and his guitar playing. Not as some one who has copied Lightfoot but as some one who studied the works of his teacher and has walked through life with those lessons in his back pocket. There might not be anyone in Canada who can play Gordon Lightfoot like Benjamin Williams. Backed by Patrick Hughes on acoustic and electric guitar and Connor Miskiman on bass this trio will emulate the sounds of Gordon’s catalogue in one of the finest tributes paying homage to Canada’s most respected songwriter, a legend and a pillar of Western music Mr. Gordon Meredith Lightfoot Jr.
